When To See An Obstetrician

When you decide to have a child, you want to do everything possible to help ensure you have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. This is why you want to start seeing an obstetrician. In order to learn more about the importance of seeing an obstetrician, continue reading this article.

See an obstetrician as soon as you know you want to have a child

You don't have to wait until you conceive in order to see an obstetrician. Seeing one before you conceive can be very helpful. They will give you a thorough exam to make sure there are no concerns. They can also give you advice on things you should be doing in order to prepare for conception, as well as give you information on the best way to go about conceiving. For example, you can learn about your ovulation cycle and how to know when you are the most fertile. This can help you conceive much faster and with less stress.

See an obstetrician once you are pregnant

If you have already been seeing the obstetrician while you were trying to conceive, then you will want to continue seeing them during your pregnancy. If you hadn't been seeing an obstetrician, then once you find out you are pregnant, you really need to begin seeing one. The obstetrician will be a very important part of your life during this period. They will monitor you and your baby to make sure your pregnancy is progressing without any issues. If a problem does arise, they will catch it and will help you and the baby with any medical treatments or intervention that is necessary. The obstetrician will also be able to give you advice on things like dealing with morning sickness and knowing how to get a good night's sleep as your belly get larger.

Continue seeing the obstetrician through the delivery and after

The obstetrician will also be the one who will likely deliver your baby. Once you have the baby, you still won't be done with those appointments. You will have follow-up appointments to go to in order to make sure you are doing well both physically and emotionally. Also, they can help you with information on things like breastfeeding, answer questions on things like the baby's feeding or sleep schedule, and more. The obstetrician can be a great resource when it comes to getting referrals for things you may need for yourself and/or the baby.

About Me

Learning About Birthing Options

Hi there, my name is Rebecca Ulman. Welcome to my website. I am here to talk to you about the birthing process from start to finish. I placed my trust in my OBGYN while pregnant with my first child. The doctor provided the knowledge and support I needed to complete a natural birth. Although I chose this option for myself, there are many other ways to approach the birthing process. I will use this site to talk about the different birthing options I had to choose from. I will talk about the various ways my OBGYN provided support throughout this process. Please come by often to learn more.
